The NBA app will provide the optimal video quality depending on the current download bandwidth of your Internet connection, up to a maximum of 3MB. The video player uses adaptive bandwidth technology to periodically check your Internet connection and deliver you the optimal video quality experience for that connection. If the available bandwidth changes as you watch a game, the picture quality will fluctuate.
Applications that consume significant bandwidth, such as file sharing applications, may compete with video streamed on the NBA app and thus reduce video quality. It is recommended to close these applications while watching video on the NBA app or limit their bandwidth usage. Downloading large files or using real-time applications, such as VoIP, may reduce video quality as well.
How can I troubleshoot video quality issues?
You can manually adjust your video quality when viewing NBA content using the instructions below.
- Open the video you want to watch
- Select the video Settings
- Select ‘Video Quality'
- Select the desired video quality
In the NBA mobile app, you can also change the video quality to a ‘data saver’ mode using the instructions below.
- In the mobile app, select the account icon on the top right
- Select 'App Settings'
- Select ‘Video Quality’

If your issues with stream quality persist, we also recommend trying the following steps.
- Access on a different platform or browser
- Clear your device or browser's cache and cookies
